Oryba achemenides
A large, heavy-bodied, large-eyed moth with a dark green upperside and orange underside. Cannot be confused with any other species except Oryba kadeni, which is brighter and with a more contrasting pattern.
Male: Very similar to Oryba kadeni but: Antenna more slender and longer. Eye smaller. Abdomen distally obtuse, without a tuft, spines more slender. Ventral abdominal spines weaker than in Oryba kadeni. Marginal band of forewing upperside much narrower than the distance between this area and the distal margin of the dark olive-green medial trapezoidal area. Hindwing upperside without distinct bands. Distal margin of forewing concave from M2 to tornus, crossvein m2-m3 very long, lower angle of discal cell strongly produced. Forecoxal hair-brush strongly developed.
Male genitalia: Uncus shorter than broad, the lobes strongly curved apically. Juxta process distinctly clavate. Valve with a peculiar scent-organ; ventral margin straight, upper margin convex, membranous, swollen, as if being inflated; the greater part of the valve covered externally with long stout hairs that lie flat upon the valve; these hairs are very brittle. Posterior margin of tergite 8 also swollen, inflated, membranous. No distinct harpe. Phallus less deeply divided than in Oryba kadeni, the left process short.
Female genitalia: Tergite 8 a little broader than long, strongly sclerotized, truncate, angles rounded, membranous medially. Sterigma triangular, apex broader than in Oryba kadeni.
