Perigonia caryae
The only Perigonia species with a "banded" forewing pattern consisting of alternating pale and dark brown areas, in combination with a semicircular submarginal area that is paler than the adjacent terminal area and which extends posteriorly only slightly beyond the middle of the outer margin and never approximates or reaches the tornus.
Male genitalia: Valves rather narrow. Phallus with complex whip-like process at apex; base of whip has two short thick setae, followed immediately by two long thin longitudinal setae, after which is a long gap where the whip angles and twists, followed by three short thick setae, separated by equal spaces of medium length. Last of these setae situated at the end of the whip and immediately followed by a pair of long thin setae. Vesica with a short membranous lobe distal to whip.
