Polyptychus anochus subsp. margo
Forewing outer margin more crenulated and less evenly curved, apex and tornus more produced, convexities below apex and at end of CuA2 stronger. 33 mm, so larger than Polyptychus anochus anochus (30 mm). Like the females of many Polyptychus, forewing upperside chestnut brown, hindwing sometimes paler with a reddish tendency; forewing apex and tornus very falcate but less extreme than in the male. Distinguished from female Neopolyptychus species by the absence of the marginal border on the forewing upperside. Distinguished from female Neopolyptychus species by the presence on the hindwing upperside of a greyish tornal patch with two or three vague spots on veins 1A and 2A and the intervening fold, as in Polyptychus andosus. 32-37 mm. Uncus bifid, two arms thicker and joined basally in the form of a V (longer, thinner and joined in the form of a U in Polyptychus anochus anochus).Dorso-lateral projections of juxta short, only one third as long as in Polyptychus anochus anochus, and apically convergent, not slightly divergent. Apical point of valve directed posteriorly and slightly up (directed ventrally in Polyptychus anochus anochus). Dorsal lobe of harpe spatulate (recurved an pointed in Polyptychus anochus anochus); ventral lobe short and blunt (longer and directed dorsally in Polyptychus anochus anochus). Sterigma lacking both horns on either side of the ostium bursae (present in Neopolyptychus) and median lobes (present in the Polyptychus nigriplaga group).Ostium bursae vast and open, as in Polyptychus andosus.
