Polyptychus digitatus
Polyptychus vuattouxi and Polyptychus digitatus are currently considered to be allopatric species that occur west and east of the Dahomey Gap respectively. However, DNA barcodes of a small number of samples from Nigeria, Cameroon and Gabon imply that these are actually Polyptychus vuattouxi and thus that this species occurs east of the Dahomey Gap in Nigeria, Cameroon and Gabon. There are barcoded specimens of both taxa from roughly the same place in southern Cameroon, and Polyptychus digitatus is recorded from the island of Bioko. So all records of Polyptychus digitatus from Nigeria, SW Cameroon and W Gabon are now suspect; those from RCA, E Gabon and NE Congo Republic, as well as further east and southeast, are probably OK as Polyptychus digitatus. The male genitalia of moths from the contentious areas need to be checked. Only records confirmed from either DNA barcodes or male genital morphology are mapped here; records from Nigeria,
