Polyptychus nigriplaga
Male: A cinnamon to creamy clay coloured species with a variable amount and intensity of wavy markings on the wings. A dark medial streak on head and thorax uppersides. Forewing apex acute, not falcate. Forewing upperside with a dark dot at base and one at costa near apex. Hindwing upperside mostly paler than forewing; inner marginal black streak and tornal spots present but variable. FWL = 29-36 mm.
Femaler: Forewing apex and tornus more acute than in male; a slight emargination below the apex giving remainder of termen greater convexity. FWL= 33 mm.
Male genitalia: Uncus broad, narrowing to a sharply pointed hook.Gnathos divided into two pointed processes. Valva broadest in middle. Harpe in form of a long ridge which almost reaches the end of the valva. Phallus with a long carinate process, broadening slightly at its apex and armed at that point with a small tooth.
Female genitalia: Tergum A8 in form of a broad, sclerotised arc with a median more membranous suture. Sternum A8 broad with slight median sinus at ostium bursae. Ductus bursae broad, funnel-shaped. Bursa copulatrix fairly large, membranous; one signum composed of two long parallel, serrated ridges, and a second small signum in the form of a pear-shaped serrated plate.
