Type data:

[HOLOTYPE] ♀ [India: Himachal Pradesh,] Dharmsala (Rev. J.M. Hocking) [NHMUK]. A holotype was inferred from Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): 238, who suspected it was aberrant. This suggestion was confirmed by Clark, 1928, Proc. New Engl. zool. Club 10: 34, and Jordan, 1930, Novit. zool. 36: 2.

Taxonomic Notes:

Synonymized with Polyptychus dentatus by Hampson, 1893, Fauna Brit. India 1: 69. Reinstated as a species by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): 236.
