Protaleuron rhodogaster
Male: Upperside of body greenish olive; scaling of antennae pinkish buff, uppersides of legs buff; abdomen with deep olive lateral patches on proximal segments, apex of these segments laterally creamy. Underside of palps, femora, thorax and abdomen pinkish crimson. Forewing upperside with three antemedial and three discal lines, distinct at hinder margin, where they are blackish, the third discal one appearing at M2, where the second is also a little more distinct; a small black discal spot; an indistinct oblique apical line ending behind Rs4 in a black spot; bluish white scales basad of antemedial lines and distad of postmedial ones, also between the lines along the posterior margin; apex pointed. Forewing underside olive-brown in basal two-thirds, washed with clay-colour; discal area crimson coral-red, with traces of lines; a very irregular marginal band, brown, washed with red, widest before M2. Hindwing underside pinkish-crimson from costal margin beyond discal cell; anal area olive clay-colour; distal marginal band brown washed with red, less distinct than on forewing, triangularly dilated at M2. FWL: 34 mm.
Female similar to male but forewings broader, apex more rounded, outer margin more convex and pattern more contrasting, with a conspicuous pale buff patch on the outer margin.
Male genitalia: Uncus and gnathos as in Stolidoptera but gnathos processes less curved apically almost twice as long as uncus processes; valve very large; harpe vestigial; phallus large, with a more sclerotized and strongly dentate broad flap or plate on each side; apical edge also incrassate and armed with some setae.
