Taxonomic Notes:
Resynonymized with Psilogramma discistriga discistriga by Kitching and Rougerie et al., 2018, Biodivers. Data J. 6: e22236.
Synonymized with Pseudosphinx discistriga (Walker, 1856) by Hampson, [1893], Fauna Brit. India 1: 105; then with Psilogramma menephron menephron by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): 44. Reinstated as a species by Eitschberger, 2001, Neue ent. Nachr. 52: 9.
Psilogramma macromera was reinstated as a species by Eitschberger (2001) (STI 17722) without justification beyond the statement: "Butler based the description of three specimens. With certainty these are a different species from Ps. increta or Ps. menephron. Perhaps the taxon is even identical to Ps. rupprechtorum, but this is contradicted by the size of the species, which Butler specified as 130-142mm. So long as the type of Ps. macromera cannot be examined and determined more exactly, this is here for now a nomen dubium". Examination of the three syntypes in the NHMUK has shown no significant differences from the long series of Psilogramma discistriga discistriga, with which Diludia macromera is here considered a junior synonym.
