HOLOTYPE ♂ China: [Zhejiang,] Zocé [Sheshan, 31°10'N 121°19'E] ([R.P.C.] Baumert) [CMNH]. Zolotuhin & Yevdoshenko (2019: 438) (STI 22079), stated that “Type locality for sinicus Rothschild & Jordan, 1903 (as a subspecies) is usually cited as “China, [Zhejiang], Zocé [Sheshan, 31°10’N, 121°19’E]” (http://tpittaway.tripod.com/china/s_sin.htm) that is surely wrong. The type (= holotype) is designated in the original description, and it originates from “Shanghai” (pointed out in the coll. De Joannis, MNHN). Thus, Shanghai is the type locality for the taxon.” However, Rothschild & Jordan (1903: 149) (STI 19807) listed the type series as “1 ♂, 1♀ in coll. Charles Oberthür from Zocé (Baumert) ; type ♂. 1 ♂, 2 ♀♀ from Shanghai in coll. Joannis. 1 ♀ in the Tring Museum received from Mons. L’Abbé de Joannis.” From this, particularly the full stop after “1 ♂, 1♀ in coll. Charles Oberthür from Zocé (Baumert) ; type ♂”, it is clear that the holotype is the male from Zocé and that the statement by Zolotuhin & Yevdoshenko (2019) to the contrary is erroneous.
