Taxonomic Notes:

Proposed as a subspecies of Theretra orpheus. Synonymized with Theretra orpheus pelius by Carcasson, 1968, Jl E. Afr. nat. Hist. Soc. natn. Mus. 26 (3): 131, who incorrectly stated that the syntypes were females. Reinstated as a subspecies by Darge, 1971, Bull. d'I.F.A.N. 33(A) 2: 434.
