Xylophanes ockendeni
Similar to Xylophanes rothschildi but immediately distinguished by the slightly scalloped outer margin of the forewing; the more well-defined dark basal patch on the forewing upperside; the transversely (not longitudinally) oriented dark patch distal to the discal spot; and the sinuate, brown postmedial band, distal of which, on the inner margin, is a black, triangular patch. Abdomen with a thin, brown dorsal line, either side of which is a row of small black spots, one on the posterior edge of each tergite. Underside of abdomen with a lavender-red coloration. Forewing upperside most similar to Xylophanes macasensis but ground colour a deeper, darker, more bluish-green, on which the darker markings are less prominent, making the whole moth look more drab; postmedial line brownish, sinuate, less conspicuous and more poorly defined, distally blending in with the ground colour; area around discal spot paler than in Xylophanes macasensis, rendering the spot more conspicuous; submarginal line represented by a series of small, dark vein spots. FWL: 35-36 mm.
MAle genitalia: Saccus broadly U-shaped. Posterior margin of juxta straight. Harpe directed towards inner surface of valve; tapering for about half its length, then strongly expanded to a spatulate apex, which may be bluntly or sharply pointed, and may have one or more subapical teeth. Vesica initially directed posteriorly and somewhat ventrally; at a distance from the base approximately equal to the length of the aedeagus, the vesica angles upward and slightly to the left; just distal to this point, the vesica becomes swollen and bears two lateral, elongate diverticula, beyond which the ductus ejaculatorius continues posteriorly, slightly upward and to the left.
Female genitalia: Antrum shorter than broad. Medial sclerotization of postvaginal plat triangular with a blunt, anteriorly directed point.
