Aellopos ceculus
Immediately distinguishable from all other species of Aellopos by the yellow medial band of the hindwing upperside and the lack of a transverse white band on abdominal tergite 4. Most similar to Eupyrrhoglossum corvus but distinguishable by its smaller size and lack of a medial brown line on the upperside of the head and thorax.
Forewing Rs3 and Rs4 fused apically. Head and thorax without medial crest. Antenna slender, with a longer and less abrupt hook. Abdomen with one or two lateral orange patches; base of tergite 5 also often orange laterally. Hindwing upperside with a medial yellow band, seldom of even width, generally narrowed in and before middle, costal half often partly obsolete.
Male genitalia: Phallus with a short whip, slightly shorter length of the diameter of the sheath, ending in a seta and bearing the usual two apical sensory setae; two to four apical setae on the right side, five to eight setae on the left side arranged in row, all very long and pointing proximad.
Female genitalia: Ostium bursae small, lying in a groove or cavity formed by the apical edge of sterigma and a rather prominent antevaginal ridge, which conceals it in a ventral view.
