Type data:

Type(s) [♀] [Malaysia:] North Borneo [Sabah], Sandakan (W.B. Pryer) [NHMUK]. A female has been labelled as manuscript lectotype in NHMUK (M.R. Honey, pers. comm.).

Taxonomic Notes:

Synonymized with Oxyambulyx substrigilis as a subspecies by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): 203. Implicitly reinstated as a species by Rothschild, 1920, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (9) 5: 479, in the description of Oxyambulyx pryeri sumatranus. Transferred to Ambulyx by Holloway, 1987, Moths of Borneo 3: 131.
