Taxonomic Notes:
Proposed as a subspecies of Amplypterus panopus. Synonymized with Amplypterus celebensis as a subspecies by Eitschberger, 2006, Neue ent. Nachr. 59: 4.
Eitschberger (2006: 4) stated that he had no material of this taxon but on the basis of the very similar shape of the forewing marginal band, he considered seramensis to be related to, if not identical to, celebensis. On this basis, he placed seramensis "temporarily" as a subspecies of celebensis, while leaving open the possibility that it might yet be a further, isolated species. However, in view of the lack of any diagnostic feature with regard to the Sulawesi populations, and that subspecies status is assigned to these here, Amplypterus panopus seramensis is here considered to be a synonym of Amplypterus panopus celebensis.
