HOLOTYPE ♂ [Solomons Islands:] Guadalcanar [Guadalcanal], iv «v.1901 (A.S. Meek)» [NHMUK]. The original description gave the date of capture as "April". However, the specimen labelled “type” in NHMUK, and illustrated as such by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): pl. 2, fig. 6, has a capture date of "May 1901". This date was also given by Rothschild, 1919, Novit. Zool. 26: 228. However, there is a male in the NHMUK with a capture date on its label of "April" that could possibly be the true holotype.
