Type data:
SYNTYPES 12 (including ≥1♂ & ≥1♀) Mexico; Honduras; Venezuela; Brazil; St Thomas [1♂1♀ ZSBS; MNHU; CMNH]. There are two syntypes in the ZSBS, a male labelled "Zacualapan, III" and a female labelled "Cuernavaca III". These two specimens were erroneously interpreted as holotype and "allotype" by Eitschberger, 2001, Neue ent. Nachr. 51: 159. There is also a male labelled "Venezuela" in MNHU and a female labelled "paratype" from "Cuernavaca, Mexico" in CMNH under the MS name "Callionima physeter Clench & Siefert".
