LECTOTYPE ♂ [Mexico:] Yucatan, Izamal («G.F.» Gaumer) [CMNH]; designated by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the world: 88. Jordan, 1940, Entomologist's mon. Mag. 76: 276, stated “My late friend [B.P. Clark] described the species from a pair, selected the female as type and figured it and sent me the paratype for the Tring collection”. This does not constitute a valid lectotype designation because there are two specimens labelled "type" in CMNH and both are males.
