Cautethia yucatana
Very similar to Cautethia spuria but smaller, forewings shorter and apically more rounded. Forewing upperside ground colour smoky grey (as in Cautethia spuria, darker than Cautethia grotei grotei and Cautethia noctuiformis noctuiformis); markings less prominent than in Cautethia spuria, the basal area lighter; tornus with a dark bar that tapers obliquely basad, narrowing and continuing obscurely to the mid point of the costal margin, similar to Cautethia noctuiformis noctuiformis (in Cautethia spuria, this mark is more like a broad triangular patch). Basal area of hindwing upperside pale yellow, as in Cautethia spuria, not orange as in Cautethia grotei grotei and Cautethia noctuiformis noctuiformis; black marginal band extending almost to the discal cell. FWL: 16 mm.
Male genitalia: Similar to Cautethia spuria but: Uncus stouter and apical surface larger. Gnathos lobes longer dorsoventrally, transverse ridge below this pair of processes, which in Cautethia spuria appears as a sharp tooth in lateral view, absent.
