Cephonodes leucogaster
Similar to Cephonodes hylas but distinguishable by the subdorsal cream patches on the upperside of abdominal segments 6 an7 seven and by the pure white patches on the underside of abdominal segments 7 and 8.. Upperside of abdomen similar to Cephonodes hylas but transverse red band on segment 5 interrupted medially, and segments 6 and 7 with conspicuous subdorsal cream patches (yellow in Cephonodes hylas). Underside of abdominal segments 6 and 7 pure white, or at least with medial spots in addition to the large side-patches; anal tuft medially buff.
Male genitalia: Tegumen, vinculum, uncus and gnathos quite asymmetrical, gnathos not lying beneath uncus but at a right angle. Uncus separated into two lobes, the left reduced to a small sclerite lying close against the right and visible only in ventral or left-side lateral view; right lobe compressed, elongate, downcurved apically, pointed. Gnathos longer than uncus, longitudinally concave on its true upper surface, the right edge not quite as high as the left edge, apex curved towards uncus. Juxta as in Cephonodes hylas. Left valve much smaller than the right, ventral margin concave from base to beyond middle, dorsal margin convex, apex acuminate, clothed along the edge with peculiar thickened long black scales that are widened at end; right valve broadly sole-shaped, ventral margin strongly convex before middle, rounded-angulate, apical part of dorsal margin incurved, clothed with long setae; a tuft of long seta-like scales apically.
