Erinnyis alope (Taxonomy)
General description:
Transferred to Erinnyis by H├╝bner, [1819], Verz. bekannter Schmett.: 139.
Morphology:
Superficially similar to species of Isognathus but immediately distinguishable by the double thoracic crest (single in Isognathus) and very dark brown (sometimes almost black) upperside to the head, thorax and forewings.The only species of Erinnyis with a yellow base on the hindwing upperside. Gnathos lobes slender, longer than uncus lobes.Harpe rather short, apically upcurved at right angles and broadly rounded.
