Erinnyis ello (Taxonomy)
Transferred to Erinnyis by H├╝bner, [1819], Verz. bekannter Schmett.: 139.
Distinguishable from all other species of Erinnyis by the orange base to the hindwing upperside and the prominently black and pale grey banded pattern on the upperside of the abdomen. Forewing upperside grey, with a black medial band of variable width from base to apex. Forewing upperside almost uniform pale grey with only traces of the median band and other pattern elements. Uncus lobes equal in length to those of the gnathos.Gnathos lobes slender, the tips recurved and not projecting beyond the obtuse ends of the uncus lobes.Harpe long, reaching to the middle of the valve, dilated and strongly compressed distally, apical part so twisted that its flat side is almost horizontal (or vertical upon the plane of the clasper). Aedeagus similar to that of Erinnyis crameri.
