General description:
Synonymized with Erinnyis o. obscura by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool.9 (suppl.): 369. Reinstated as a species by Clark, 1935, Proc. New Engl. zool. Club15: 26. Erroneously treated as a synonym of Erinnyis o. obscura by Bridges, 1993, Cat. Fam. Gen. Spec. Sphingidae of the World: VIII.7. Reinstated as a species by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the world: 45.
Morphology:
The only species of Erinnyis with a white base to the hindwing upperside. Forewing upperside most similar to female Erinnyis obscura conformis but slightly more contrastingly patterned.
