HOLOTYPE ♂ [Indonesia: Kai Is,] Little Key, xii. (H. Kühn) [NHMUK]. Moulds, 1985, Aust. ent. Mag. 12: 87, and d'Abrera, 1987, Sphingidae Mundi: 161, incorrectly stated that the holotype was a female, following an error by Rothschild & Jordan, 1903, Novit. zool. 9 (suppl.): 646. Rothschild & Jordan gave the correct sex (male) in the legend to plate 3, fig. 19, where the holotype was illustrated.
