Neopolyptychus convexus
One of the "small" Neopolyptychus that are indistinguishable on external appearance. Male FWL: 28-34 mm, average = 31 mm. Female FWL: 34-44 mm, average = 38 mm.
Male genitalia: Valve unique within the genus: Dorsal apical process slightly incurved and massively expanded dorso-ventrally, with a marginal array of sharp teeth. Ventral apical process similar to that of Neopolyptychus consimilis but larger. Apex of phallus with a transverse, spinose band turns through about 90° ventrally. Vesica with a semi-circular, plate-like cornutus.
Female genitalia: Lamella postvaginalis as in Neopolyptychus compar but broader. Ostium bursae flanked by a pair of straight, strongly divergent, sharply pointed processes that exceed the posterior margin of the lamella postvaginalis.
A record from Kenya (Marsabit) is unconfirmed; it is not mapped here.
