Taxonomic Notes:
Proposed as a subspecies of Polyptychus consimilis. Synonymized with Polyptychus pygarga by Jordan, 1923, Ent. Mitt. 12: 54, as the male of that species. Implicitly raised to species status by Jordan, 1929, Novit. zool. 35: 188. Transferred to Neopolyptychus by Carcasson, 1968, Jl E. Afr. nat. Hist. Soc. natn. Mus. 26 (3): 21.
