Nyceryx alophus ixion Rothschild & Jordan, 1903

Proposed as a subpecies of Nyceryx alophus. First published as a nomen nudum by Burmeister, 1878, Descr. physique R├®publique Argentine5 (L├®pid.) (1): 345. Burmeister, 1879, Atlas Descr. physique R├®publique Argentine5 (L├®pid.) (2): 29, subsequently considered that he had made a mistake and that his specimens were Aleuron nephus var. alophus. The name remained an unavailable nomen nudum until described as a subspecies of Nyceryx alophus by Rothschild & Jordan.
