HOLOTYPE ♂ [Democratic Republic of Congo:] Punia Lubutu [MRAC].
Taxonomic Notes:
Proposed as a subspecies of Polyptychus virescens. Synonymized with the nominotypical subspecies by Carcasson, 1968, Jl E. Afr. nat. Hist. Soc. natn. Mus. 26 (3): 29, who considered it merely to be a badly faded specimen. Darge, 1970, Bull. Soc. ent. Fr. 75: 258, considered that ochracea was simply a yellow colour form found throughout the range of Chloroclanis virescens virescens. Reinstated as a subspecies based on unspecified genital characters by Pierre, 2001, Bull Soc. ent. Fr. 106: 264. Unfortunately, the senior name for this subspecies is Chloroclanis virescens olivolinea, which Pierre, 2001, Bull Soc. ent. Fr. 106: 264, incorrectly treated as a synonym of Chloroclanis virescens ochracea. Synonymized with Chloroclanis virescens olivolinea by Kitching and Rougerie et al., 2018, Biodivers. Data J. 6: e22236.
